Team India's top order batsman Shreyas Iyer has returned home to-day (Friday) after his successful surgery on his left shoulder.

The 26-year-old right hand batsman underwent surgery in Mumbai on Thursday, reveals his father, Santosh Iyer.

"My son was admitted to Kokilaben Hospital on Wednesday and the operation was successfully done by India's renowned surgeon Dinshaw Pardiwala".

Pardiwala is also one of the members of the ICC's medical panel.

Last month during the series against England, Iyer had suffered a partially dislocated shoulder.

During the eighth over of the English chase in the first ODI, Iyer dived in at extra cover to save John Bairstow-hit boundary but he fell awkwardly on his left shoulder and was in great pain.

"Surgery was a success and with lion-hearted determination, I’ll be back in no time. Thank you for your wishes ", he tweeted.

How will be, however, missing the entire IPL season this year.

"He will be in Mumbai for at least three weeks before being sent to the NCA (National Cricket Academy (Bangalore) for further rehabilitation".
