Antigua: MS Dhoni’s quick glovework is legendary. While some say it is high on technique, everyone admits that it is extremely effective and catches batsmen napping.

While  the quick reflexes behind the stumps are very much in tact as Virat Kohli’s side is having a good time in West Indies, so is his quick wit.

Dhoni, who is known for his pithy observations and analysis of the opposition batsmen, was it again during the third ODI in Antigua.

After scoring an unbeaten 78 to power India to 251 on a tricky wicket, former India captain was vocal behind the wickets; guiding the likes of Kuldeep Yadav and pushing R Ashwin to up his game a bit.

“Ball dekho, Ash. Kahan dhyaan hai? (Look at the ball, Ashwin. Where are you lost?)” quipped Dhoni after the Indian off-spinner, who was busy appealing, missed an easy run-out opportunity.

Dhoni, whose DRS acumen skipper Kohli trusts a lot, was also advised not to waste a review.

Stump mic caught Dhoni saying, “Leg stump ke bahar ja rahi hai. Review kharab ho jayega aur kuch nahin. (It is missing leg stump. We will waste one review; nothing else.)”

Dhoni, who stated that it is important to guide young spinners like Kuldeep Yadav, was also heard telling the young chinaman bowler what the batsman – Rovman Powell – will do. Dhoni said, “Yeh (Rovman Powell) aage nahin badega. Andar se hi marega. (He will not step out. He will try to hit big from the crease.)”

Dhoni, in the past, was heard giving his inputs to bowlers, asking fielders to up their game and at times, even mimicking teammates. Check out:
