Visakhapatnam: AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu made an attempt to take credit for badminton player P.V. Sindhu’s performance at Rio Olympics. Speaking at  an summit on Friday, Mr Naidu spoke of the sports infrastructure his government created between 1995 and 2004 in Hyderabad.

“I gave an institute of excellence to Gopichand and he is producing world class players. He has produced three Olympic medallists.” Mr Naidu said he was always ahead of times. “Nobody is getting awards internationally or at the Olympics, that is not the mistake of our nation. It is because we are unable to visualise the need and create infrastructure. At that time, I created the best sports infrastructure in Hyderabad,” he said and recalled the National Games that he oversaw.
