Assam Cabinet Approves Waiver of Premium for Land Alloted to Boxing Academy
The waiver pertains to land measuring more than 3 bighas situated at Hudumpur village
Guwahati: The Assam cabinet on Friday cleared the decks for the proposed Lovlina Boxing Academy near here by approving the waiver of the settlement premium for the allotted land, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said. Sarma told reporters after a meeting here that the cabinet approved the waiver of the premium for the land allotted to Lovlina Boxing Academy in recognition of the achievements and contribution of the champion pugilist to Indian sports.
The settlement was approved at a nominal rate of Re 1.
The waiver pertains to land measuring more than 3 bighas situated at Hudumpur village.
The decision is aimed at supporting the development of sporting infrastructure, and encouraging the growth of boxing and other sporting disciplines in Assam.
''Lovlina Borgohain's achievements on the international stage have brought immense pride to the state and the country, while serving as an inspiration to the younger generation to pursue sporting excellence,'' Sarma said.
The chief minister hoped that the ''next gen of Assam's Lovlinas can get the best training and make the nation proud''.
Sarma had officially launched the academy in June last year.
