Nagoya: Murali Sreeshankar continued India's medal-winning run in athletics at the Asian Games with a silver in the men's long jump event here on Monday.
The 27-year-old from Palakkad, who had won a silver medal at the last edition in Hangzhou and at this year's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, produced a best effort of 8.07m in his second attempt to move into medal contention.
He could not take his last two attempts after hurting his ankle in the fourth try and finished behind China's Yuhao Shi, who produced a season-best 8.17m to claim the gold medal.
Uzbekistan's Anvar Anvarov claimed the bronze with an effort of 8.06m.
This was after Parul Chaudhary bagged a bronze in the women's 5000m final following fellow long-distance runner Gulveer Singh's silver medal in the men's 1500m final with a personal best effort of 3:36.72 and Vithya Ramraj's bronze medal in the women's 400m hurdles event.
