Under the plan, 20 TMC of Godavari water will be diverted to the city, with 15 TMC earmarked to meet Hyderabad residents’ drinking water needs and another 5 TMC planned for Gandipet. The estimated cost for diverting Godavari waters is ₹7,000 crore.
Development work will focus on the confluence of the Musi, Esi, and Godavari rivers. The Chief Minister said that within the next two years, Godavari waters will reach Gandipet. The first phase, covering 21 km from Gandipet and Himayatsagar to Gandhi Sarovar, is planned to commence by March 31, funded with ₹4,100 crore in NABARD loans.
