The TGSRTC Hospital at Tainaka celebrated World Heart Day with an awareness seminar on heart health on Tuesday.

The staff, marking the occasion, aimed to create comprehensive awareness among the public and patients regarding heart-related issues that are on the rise due to changing lifestyles and immense stress in modern society.

Hospital superintendent and CMO Dr Sailaja Murthy explained that the objective of the programme was to highlight the importance of heart health and encourage everyone to adopt a healthy lifestyle. She mentioned that the hospital conducts special programmes every year on World Heart Day to foster public awareness.

Dr Murthy urged that, given changing lifestyles, heart care should not be limited merely to treatment; instead, the primary focus should be on prevention.

The seminar covered ways to prevent heart diseases early on and the options available should one fall ill.

The staff advised that heart health can be maintained by walking or practising yoga for at least 30 minutes daily, consuming a balanced diet low in oil and salt, and avoiding habits like smoking.

They also recommended that everyone over the age of 30 undergo regular health check-ups.
