Nizamabad:Panchayat Raj and Nizamabad district in-charge minister Dhanasari Anasuya, popularly known as Seethakka, stated that the Telangana government is implementing various programmes aimed at promoting the economic and social empowerment of women.

She mentioned that under the Akshara Lakshmi scheme, every woman who is a member of a women's self-help group is guaranteed access to basic education. The minister on Tuesday participated in the Indira Mahila Shakti programme and the distribution of new ration cards in Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts, alongside Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir.

She informed that the state government is providing life insurance coverage worth ₹10 lakh to each member of women’s groups and is also offering loans of up to ₹1 lakh to those women constructing houses under the Indiramma housing scheme. Under the Mahila Samakhya scheme, women are being given ownership of petrol bunks and electric buses. Moreover, the task of stitching uniforms for government school students has been assigned to IKP women’s groups, promoting self-employment, Seethakka added.

Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir stated that the state government's goal is to transform one crore women into millionaires. Additionally, the government is working to extend ration cards and Indiramma houses to all eligible beneficiaries in the state. Telangana ranks first in the country in food security, and ration cards play a vital role in ensuring this. Currently, 93 lakh out of 1.15 crore families receive 6 kg of fine rice per person per month for free. While the previous BRS government neglected the issuance of ration cards, the current government has expedited the process of issuing new cards, Shabbir Ali said.
