Women Commission Issues Summons to Shivaji for Making Derogatory Remarks

Hyderabad: Telangana State Commission for Women on Tuesday issued summons to the film actor Shivaji asking him to appear before it on December 27 at 11 am without fail for making derogatory remarks against the women.
In a suo motu case, the Commission noticed that Shivaji made derogatory comments on women at a movie event held on Monday. The statement appears to be derogatory to the women in general and more particularly the women of Telangana, the Commission observed.
“Having found the prima-facie you have made such a statement deliberately with an intention to defame women in the society, the commission has taken suo-moto cognizance and accordingly decided to conduct an enquiry under section 16 (1) (b) of the Telangana Women's Commission Act-1995,” Commission secretary said.
In view of the facts and circumstances, the Commission directed Shivaji to appear before it personally along with all the relevant material or documents if any pertaining to the issue and thereby co-operate with the inquiry.
