Woman Thief Targeting Bus Passengers Caught

Warangal: Police on Thursday nabbed a woman involved in several thefts targeting passengers in RTC buses and seized 188 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs 15.5 lakh from her possession here in Hanamkonda.

ACP K. Devander Reddy told the media that the accused was identified as Katroju Vijaya, 50, a resident of Shiva Nagar in Warangal city. Unable to bring up her children as her husband was an alcoholic, Vijaya started targeting lone passengers in RTC buses.

Earlier, she was caught by the police and sent to jail. But after being released, she did not mend her ways and continued her profession.

With the orders of Central Zone DCP Shaik Saleema, special teams were formed and they caught her at Tailor Street where she went to sell stolen gold ornaments.

The police team included inspector Satish, SIs Kishore, Ashok Kumar, AAO Salman Pasha, head constables Naryana, Rahoof, constables Mahesh, Ashok, Veeranna and Bhaskar.
