NALGONDA: Suryapet Town police arrested a woman software employee and her alleged paramour on Thursday for allegedly plotting to kill her husband and attacking him with an iron rod.

The victim, Anthati Thriveda, 45, was found with severe head injuries at his house in Sri Ramnagar in Suryapet on August 20. He was shifted to a hospital after locals alerted the police and is currently in a coma. Thriveda works as a teacher at a government school in Dubba Thanda of Penpahad mandal.

Police said Thriveda and Niveditha, 34, had been married for about five years and have a daughter. Niveditha, a software employee with an IT company, was working from home and staying with her husband in Suryapet.

After examining CCTV footage and Niveditha’s call data, police reportedly grew suspicious of her and took her into custody for questioning.

Suryapet Town circle inspector A. Venkataiah said Niveditha and K. Mahesh, 24, an autorickshaw driver, were arrested for allegedly plotting the attack. During questioning, Niveditha reportedly admitted to having an extramarital relationship with Mahesh and told police that they had planned to kill Thriveda.

Police said Thriveda had recently become suspicious of his wife’s behaviour and questioned her about `7 lakh she had spent recently. Niveditha had allegedly given the money to Mahesh. When Thriveda grew suspicious, the two allegedly hatched a plan to attack him, police said.

As part of the alleged plan, Niveditha went to Hyderabad on August 19, saying she had work there. Police said Mahesh entered the house around 7 pm on August 20 and attacked Thriveda with an iron rod.

Niveditha and Mahesh were produced before the Suryapet district court, which remanded them in judicial custody.
