‘Why This Silence?’, Kishan Reddy Questions Gandhis Over Capt Smit Machchhar’s Bravery
The union minister recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President Donald Trump, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and several other world leaders have already praised Capt Machchhar’s courage and presence of mind during the mid-air incident on the Dubai–Tel Aviv flight.
HYDERABAD: Union minister on Friday questioned why top Congress leaders had not publicly praised Capt Smit Machchhar, even as when global leaders hailed him for averting a “9/11-like” tragedy on a FlyDubai flight.
In a statement, Kishan Reddy said a full day had passed since leaders across the world saluted the bravery of Capt. Machchhar, who fought off his co-pilot’s attack in the cockpit and helped save more than 170 lives. He pointed out that Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had not even acknowledged the act, leave alone congratulating the pilot.
“Rahul Gandhi, who speaks about everything under the sun and posts all sorts of things on social media, has not been able to even share a post on Capt Smit Machchhar,” Kishan Reddy said. He asked what the issue is with the “Sonia family”, and why they do not recognise anything good about India and Indians. “Why can they not digest the praise that an Indian received for his bravery?” he asked.
PM Modi had said the pilot “without fearing for his own life, fought valiantly and prevented another 9/11-like attack from happening”.
