Why Spare Owaisi's College, Questions BJP
BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao criticised the Congress government for selectively enforcing demolition drives, questioning why thousands of poor and middle-class families were being displaced while the illegal college building constructed by Owaisi in the Salka Cheruvu lakebed remained untouched.
Hyderabad: BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao on Monday accused the Telangana government of adopting double standards by demolishing houses of the poor in the Musi river catchment areas while turning a blind eye to illegal constructions by AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi.
He criticised the Congress government for selectively enforcing demolition drives, questioning why thousands of poor and middle-class families were being displaced while the illegal college building constructed by Owaisi in the Salka Cheruvu lakebed remained untouched.
“The government is more concerned about students studying in Akbaruddin Owaisi’s college than the lives of the poor living along the Musi,” he said in a strongly worded statement. “Why is the government protecting this illegal structure while evicting law-abiding citizens from their homes? This is not governance—it is political favouritism.”
The BJP chief demanded that the government immediately demolish the Owaisi college structure and uphold the law equally. “The government must stop targeting the poor and start treating all citizens fairly, without bias or political calculations,” he said.
Ramchander Rao issued an ultimatum, warning that the BJP would launch its own action if the government failed to raze the illegal building. “We will not remain silent if this bias continues,” he said. The BJP leader also condemned alleged attacks on media houses by BRS workers, calling for the protection of press freedom and urging the government to act swiftly against those responsible.
