Hyderabad: Western Union, a US-based American multinational financial services corporation, has announced the establishment of its global capability centre (GCC) in Hyderabad, marking its second such centre in India. Rajeev Mago, head of India technology centres at Western Union, said the upcoming facility would focus on platform engineering, advanced digital transformation and thought leadership as part of the company’s long-term technology expansion plans.
He said the GCC, which will be inaugurated in the coming months, is expected to house more than 400 professionals. The new centre is being developed in collaboration with HCL Tech under a build-operate-transfer (BOT) model.
Mago expressed gratitude to HCL Tech for its partnership in setting up the facility, noting that the model will help Western Union accelerate its digital capabilities and operational scale.
Mago said Hyderabad’s world-class infrastructure and strong talent base made it a natural choice for the new GCC. He added that Telangana’s business-friendly policies and emphasis on innovation align with Western Union’s growth strategy, enabling the company to deepen its technological footprint in India. The upcoming centre, he said, will contribute to strengthening Western Union’s global digital operations and support its transformation journey.
