Hyderabad:The HMWS&SB stated that measures have taken with proper planning to address water scarcity issues. The demand for drinking water tankers is steadily increasing, up by 37 per cent over 2024.

The demand is increasing since 2021, the board said. The primary reason for this surge included the depletion of groundwater levels and the city’s expansion.

To address the growing demand HMWS&SB has expanded filling stations, filling points and number of tankers. There were 69 filling stations in January last year, and 10 more were added this year. The number of filling points increased from 93 in 2024 to 123 this year, and tankers from 577 in January last year to 907.
