Hyderabad:Rajesh Chauhan, a former councillor from Narayankhed, has been booked for allegedly harassing and misbehaving with minor girls at a state-run hostel in Sangareddy district. The accused, who is the son of the hostel warden Sharada, is in his mid-30s.

Eight students from graduation and polytechnic groups claimed the alleged harassment. Meanwhile, an internal inquiry was initiated into the incident.

According to the police, Chauhan allegedly entered the hostel under the influence of alcohol and behaved inappropriately with several girls during repeated visits. The victims claimed that although they informed the warden — his mother — no action was taken. Instead, two hostel workers allegedly abused them for raising the issue.

Narayankhed police registered a case on Tuesday against warden Sharada and her son Rajesh Chauhan after a complaint was registered by Rajyalaxmi, assistant BC welfare officer. Two other hostel workers were also included in the complaint.

The district BC welfare officer has also initiated a departmental inquiry against the warden and the staff. An officer of the department visited the hostel for an inquiry. Further investigation is ongoing.
