Warangal to Be Developed as Sports Hub: Naini
Reddy said steps were being taken to comprehensively develop the stadium and transform it into a sports hub rather than limiting it to a playing field.
Hanamkonda:Warangal West MLA Naini Rajender Reddy said the government’s objective was to develop Warangal as a sports hub, identify talented sportspersons at the grassroots level and provide them opportunities to compete at the international level.
He inaugurated the 12th Telangana State Athletic Championship and India Youth Under-18 selection trial camp, organised by the Warangal District Athletics Association, on Saturday. Wardhannapet MLA K.R. Nagaraju, city police commissioner N. Shwetha and district library corporation chairman Aziz Khan, among others, attended.
Reddy said steps were being taken to comprehensively develop the stadium and transform it into a sports hub rather than limiting it to a playing field. Elected representatives had jointly brought the requirements for infrastructure and training facilities for sportspersons to the attention of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who responded positively and initiated steps for sanctioning funds, he said.
He said sports helped promote discipline, confidence and a healthy lifestyle among youth. The government would encourage sports at the village level and provide talented athletes with training and opportunities, he said.
Reddy said the government, elected representatives and sports associations would work in coordination to promote sports in Warangal and Hanamkonda.
