Warangal Railway Station to Get Rs 25.41 Crore Facelift
Major upgrades, including new foot-over-bridge, escalators, and modern amenities to enhance passenger experience
Warangal: Warangal Railway Station will receive a Rs 25.41 crore makeover as part of the AMRIT Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), officials announced on Friday. This project is among 40 station redevelopments in Telangana, totalling Rs 2,737 crore, spurred by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foundation stone ceremonies in August 2023 and February 2024.
Strategically located in the city centre, Warangal Station connects major destinations like New Delhi, Chennai, Vijayawada, and Secunderabad. It currently handles 31,887 passengers per day, generates Rs 41.09 crore annually, and accommodates 137 trains across four platforms.
Upgrades include a redesigned station entrance, a 12-metre-wide foot-over-bridge with three lifts and four escalators, platform enhancements, and additional roofing. Improved toilets, modern waiting halls, enhanced landscaping, and cultural elements will also be added. Passenger-friendly signage, train indicators, and coach markers aim to streamline travel.
More than 50 per cent of the work has been completed, with full project delivery expected by the end of this financial year. Officials say the overhaul will significantly boost passenger convenience and overall travel experience.
