WARANGAL: The micro-sculptor, Mattewada Ajay Kumar, has captured attention with his latest creation of a tiny sculpture of Lord Ganesha dancing on the tip of an eyelash on the occasion of the Ganesha festival in Warangal on Tuesday. Known for his extraordinary ability to create art on a microscopic scale, Ajay Kumar’s new piece measures just 0.37 mm (370 microns) in height. It is entirely invisible to the naked eye and can only be seen with the help of a microscope.

The artist used soft wax, sand grains, plastic powder, and special micro tools to create the sculpture. For painting, he used a single caterpillar hair as a brush. The intricate artwork took him 120 hours over two months to finish. Ajay Kumar is famous for his sculptures on various tiny surfaces, including inside the eye of a needle, on human hair, and on the head of a pin. He works with rare materials such as gold, ivory, and handmade wax. Several prominent personalities, including former Prime Ministers P. V. Narasimha Rao and Atal Bihari Vajpayee and current Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have praised his micro art. Ajay Kumar holds five world and national records in the Limca Book of Records and has received many international and national awards. His work was also recently displayed at World Art Dubai 2024.
