Vimlesh Desai’s paper on construction safety adjudged best

Hyderabad: Prof. Vimlesh Prabhu Desai from the National Institute of Construction Management and Research (Nicmar), Hyderabad, along with his international colleagues, received the best paper award at the third Construction Safety Conference held in the United States.

The paper, ‘Evaluation of Factors that Impede the Use of C4.0 Technologies for Construction Safety Management, examines the barriers to adopting digital technologies in the construction industry. These technologies include building information modelling (BIM), augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), the internet of things (IoT), drones, wearable smart devices, and more. The paper proposed strategic measures to enhance the utilisation of these technologies in construction safety management.

The paper was co-authored by Prof. Desai, Prof. Lysette Dsouza of VM Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education in Goa, Prof. Anil Singh of the University of Texas at Arlington, USA, and Prof. Vikram Bhadauria of Texas A&M University-Texarkana, USA. The conference was hosted by the University of Kansas.
