Villagers Stage Protest For Underpass
Villagers wanted National Highway Authority of India:Reporter
KARIMNAGAR: Residents of Kothagattu and Gollapalli of Shankarapatnam mandal on Sunday staged a protest demonstration at Kothagattu tollgate demanding the construction of an underpass as part of Karimnagar-Warangal national highway-563.
They wanted National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) authorities to develop underpasses in between Kothagattu and Gollapalli villages.
Speaking on the occasion, agitating people said that their villages have been divided into two as the NH-563 passed through the middle of the villages.
People, especially farmers and students, were facing troubles in crossing the road, as there were no underpasses. Some of the villagers already met with accidents and died in the process of crossing the road.
On the other hand, drainage water was also not flowing freely and coming back into houses, as the road was located at a higher height than that of drainage.
Though they brought the issues to the notice of NHAI officials as well as political leaders, there was no response from them.
Knowing about the protest, Huzurabad CI V. Srinivas visited the spot and assured them they would solve their problems by bringing their issue to the notice of higher officials. Agitating villagers withdrew their protest with CIs’ assurance.
