Karimnagar: Families from Husnabad in Siddipet district protested outside deputy tahsildar Koyyada Lasya’s residence in Alkapuri Colony today, accusing her and husband Ramesh of a Rs 70 lakh land fraud.

The complainants, including Bhairi Chiranjeevi’s family, whose holdings were submerged by the Gouravelli Reservoir, said they paid the couple for 9.16 acres in Survey Nos. 505, 507 and 508 on the outskirts of Jangaon in Akkannapet mandal, but the sale deed remained unregistered. When the buyers pressed for documentation, Lasya and Ramesh admitted the land was tied up in litigation — information they allegedly withheld before accepting payment.

Karimnagar police registered a criminal case after the couple issued two repayment cheques that later bounced and then became uncontactable. Lasya, now serving as deputy tahsildar in Sarangapur mandal, faces demands from victims for swift legal action and restitution of their compensation funds.
