Nalgonda: Irrigation minister Uttam Kumar Reddy accused former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao of leaving Telangana in a deep financial crisis after a decade in power, and said the Congress government was working round the clock to rebuild the state. “KCR destroyed Telangana in 10 years; now he targets those who strive to repair the damage,” the minister charged.

Highlighting irrigation failures under the BRS government, he noted that despite spending ₹1.81 lakh crore on projects — including ₹27,000 crore on Palamuru-Rangareddy and ₹9,000 crore on Sitarama lift irrigation schemes—not a single acre received water. He branded the Kaleshwaram scheme “a disaster,” citing the collapsed barrage at Medigadda and damage to those at Annaram, and Sundilla.

He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for a ₹40 crore block at the Nalgonda collectorate, along with ministers Komatireddy Venkat Reddy.

Uttam Kumar Reddy pledged transparent completion of pending works such as the Srisailam Left Bank Canal. He also accused Chandrashekar Rao of agreeing to a deal during state bifurcation that left Telangana with only 299 tmc ft of Krishna water, and vowed to fight for Telangana’s rightful share.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said the record paddy output — 281 lakh tonnes in 2024–25 — and an expansion of ration cards from 89.7 lakh in 2014 to over 3 crore beneficiaries and asserted that while the Congress administration focused on irrigation, welfare schemes and agriculture, the BRS remained “busy spreading lies” to conceal its failures.

MPs Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, Kunduru Raghuveer Reddy, and several MLAs and MLCs attended the event.
