Urgent Appeal for Information on 8 Indian-Origin US Nationals Missing in Nepal
The families have been unable to establish contact with them and are deeply concerned about their safety and whereabouts
Hyderabad: Families of eight Indian-origin US nationals, mostly with roots in Telangana and Karnataka, have made an urgent appeal for information about their whereabouts after they became uncontactable in Nepal on August 26.
The group was travelling to Mount Kailash–Mansarovar through Nepal, reportedly as part of a travel arrangement facilitated by Classic Vacations, a Nepal-based travel agency. According to information available with the families, the last known contact with the group was around 8.30 am Nepal local time on August 26, when they were at the Rasuwagadhi Immigration Office, near the Nepal–China border.
Since then, the families have been unable to establish contact with them and are deeply concerned about their safety and whereabouts.
The eight missing persons are: Laxminath Gopisetty, Sudhindra Yapalparvi, Sudhir Rangu, Keshav Rao Tadipatri, Vivek Shankar Srivastav, Venkataraman Balasubramanyam, Venkatakrishna Bangalore Raghunatharao and Kriti Kumar Acharya, all are US citizens.
The families said they have been desperately trying to establish contact with the group since their last communication from the Rasuwagadhi area.
According to the information shared by the families, Anil Goel, based in the US, had collaborated with Chet Prasad Bhatta, said to be the MD of Classic Vacations, for the travel arrangements. Even there was no response from the Trael Agency.
“We have also reached their Mumbai office which is working but of nut much help. The families are seeking immediate assistance from the Central government, the Indian Embassy in Nepal, Nepalese authorities, immigration officials and the travel agency to locate the eight individuals and ascertain their safety,” they said.
