In a major push towards developing a world-class sporting ecosystem in Telangana, the State Government has constituted the Board of Governors for the Telangana Sports Hub under its ambitious Sports Policy 2025. The move aligns with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s vision to promote grassroots talent, transparency, and excellence in sports without political interference.

In a notable appointment, Upasana Kamineni Konidela, Vice Chairperson of CSR at Apollo Hospitals and Managing Director of UR Life, has been named Co-Chairperson of the Board. A noted wellness advocate and entrepreneur, Upasana has led several youth and fitness-focused initiatives, and her inclusion signals the government’s commitment to integrating holistic health and athlete welfare into sports development.
Her leadership is expected to shape the board’s focus on sports education, sustainable infrastructure, and welfare-driven policies. Officials say her appointment brings valuable private-sector insight and experience to the state's growing sports ecosystem.
The Telangana Sports Hub aims to operate through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), encouraging the involvement of reputed corporates and sports professionals. The newly formed Board will also oversee the Telangana Sports Development Fund (TSDF) to ensure transparent and efficient use of resources.
The initiative marks a key milestone in Telangana's effort to emerge as a national and international sporting powerhouse, with focus areas ranging from talent identification to world-class training and infrastructure.
