Union Coal Minister Urges Telangana CM to Probe Disappearance of Coal Worth ₹1,600 Crore

The Union minister said the reported loss comes at a time when SCCL is already under severe financial strain because the Telangana government owes it more than Rs 51,500 crore in outstanding dues.

Hyderabad:Union coal minister G. Kishan Reddy has written to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy seeking an immediate, comprehensive probe into reports that about 40 lakh tonnes of coal, valued at roughly Rs 1,600 crore have gone missing from Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL).

In his letter, Kishan Reddy highlighted SCCL’s central role in Telangana’s economy and the livelihoods of about 40,000 employees. He noted the company’s significance in national coal production and energy security and warned that allegations of irregularities, if left unexamined, could seriously undermine SCCL’s financial stability and future development.
