Nalgonda, July 23: A TGSRTC night halt bus was partially damaged by fire at Thadakapally in Miryalaguda mandal, Nalgonda district, after unidentified persons set it ablaze.

The incident occurred at around 3 am on Wednesday, when the Miryalaguda depot bus, parked near the Government High School, was left unattended while the driver and conductor slept in the nearby school building. Villagers had requested an RTC service from Thadakapally to Hyderabad; the bus arrived at 10.30 pm and was scheduled to depart for Hyderabad at 5 am.
Nalgonda regional manager Jhan Reddy reported that assailants ignited two tyres, and the fire spread inside the vehicle, causing extensive damage estimated at ₹10–15 lakh. The driver and conductor, aided by locals, initially tried to extinguish the flames until a fire engine arrived and brought the blaze under control.
Police sources say they are questioning four villagers who habitually sat by the bus at night drinking liquor. Circle inspector P.N.D. Prasad of Miryalaguda confirmed that a case of damage to public property has been registered and that those responsible will be arrested soon.
