Two Women Murdered Over Loan Dispute
The families of the two women had lodged missing complaints a few days ago.
The murder of two burqa‑clad women on government land came to light on Saturday after locals alerted the police. Moinabad teams rushed to the scene and identified the victims as natives of Tandur in Vikarabad district. They were later identified as Abida Begun, an anganwadi worker of Kasimpur in Basheerabad and Mahbub Begum of Indiramma Colony of Tandur.
According to police, the families of the two women had lodged missing complaints a few days ago. Tracking mobile signals and technical evidence, investigators found that the women had travelled towards Moinabad. They were later discovered dead by locals on a government plot near a farmhouse.
Police said the victims were engaged in interest‑bearing business in Tandur. Several borrowers, unable to repay large sums, allegedly hatched a plan to lure the women to Moinabad under the pretext of returning money. Taken to an isolated spot, the women were murdered following a heated argument.
Clues teams and fingerprint experts collected evidence at the scene. The bodies were shifted to Chevella Government Hospital for post‑mortem. Police confirmed the murders were linked to a financial dispute and have deployed special teams to arrest the accused. CCTV footage from Tandur to Moinabad is being examined.
SHE Teams net 19 offenders
Cyberabad SHE Teams in the past six days conducted 72 decoy operations and arrested 19 persons red‑handed for indecent acts at public places. Fifteen petty cases were booked, while the remaining offenders were counselled.

Addressing the session, the DCP stressed the importance of maintaining updated safety information on the portal to ensure secure accommodation for students and professionals. The programme aims to promote accountable, safety‑compliant hostel environments through collaboration between stakeholders and law enforcement.
Sajjanar warns fans of fake IPL apps
City police commissioner V. C. Sajjanar on Saturday warned cricket fans against using fake apps ahead of the scheduled IPL matches. “Stay alert—fake apps are on the prowl! Cybercriminals are exploiting the huge craze” for the match scheduled on May 22, Sajjanar cautioned.
Taking advantage of the demand for tickets, fraudsters have launched fake apps and websites. “Currently, many advertisements are appearing on social media regarding IPL ticket booking,” he said. The fraudsters had created fake apps with colours and logos similar to the official ticketing partner, promising tickets at lower prices. “If you click on these fake links and book tickets, you are sure to lose your money,” Sajjanar warned.
He added that if tickets do not arrive after payment, there is also a risk of banking details being stolen. “Do not be fooled by unofficial links that appear on social media in the excitement of watching the match,” he said.
Police have kept an eye on such fake apps and websites. “If anyone knows about them, they should immediately file a complaint with the nearest police station. We appeal to cricket lovers to be vigilant and not let hard‑earned money go to scammers,” the commissioner added, posting the same warning on his Twitter handle.
