The available water resources should be used with great care by giving top priority to drinking water supply.
Nalgonda: Agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Monday exhorted the people to exercise caution in the use of water and electricity, keeping situations that arose due to the effect of Super El Nino.
He has inaugurated Indiramma houses at Mallepalli and visited water-filled Nallakunta Lake in Raghunadhapalem mandal in Khammam district.
Speaking on the occasion, the agriculture minister asked the farmers to take cultivation of the crop that required less water instead of paddy for the yasangi crop season, as water levels in the reservoirs and groundwater table were depleted due to deficit rainfall with the effect of Super El Nino.
The available water resources should be used with great care by giving top priority to drinking water supply.
He stressed the need to take precautions to prevent the wastage of natural resources.
He also underlined the need to utilise the electricity preciously as power generation, likely to impact the state due to decreased water levels in the irrigation projects due to the super El Nino effect.

Steps have been taken to supply water to another 11 tanks from the Buggavagu stream, he added.
He also emphasised the need to ensure an adequate water supply for livestock.
It is everyone's responsibility to avoid wastage of water and electricity in the present situation.
