TSUTF Demands GO 25 Amendment and 2 Teachers per Primary School; Warns of Agitation
The union said it would welcome Telangana Public Schools where required but opposed closure of schools in their name.
Hyderabad:The Telangana State United Teachers Federation (TSUTF) demanded that the government amend GO 25, keep state-run schools accessible and appoint at least two teachers in every primary school. It also sought the pay revision commission (PRC) from July 1, 2023 and warned of an agitation in November if no decision was taken by then. TSUTF said its members would hold a mass hunger strike ehre on October 17 and announced its state conference in Kothagudem from December 26 to 28.
TSUTF president Chava Ravi cited the two-teacher norm under the 1986 National Policy on Education’s Operation Blackboard and criticised the conversion of schools into single-teacher institutions. “Do not distance education from everyone in the name of quality,” the committee said after its meeting in Hyderabad.
The union said it would welcome Telangana Public Schools where required but opposed closure of schools in their name. It sought one teacher per class in schools with 50 students and fewer app and non-teaching duties for headmasters.
General secretary A. Venkat sought cashless treatment through health cards, justice for GO 317-affected employees, abolition of CPS and old pension benefits for 2003 DSC teachers. Other demands covered KGBV pay, promotions, TET exemption for pre-RTE recruits, and issues concerning model, social welfare and tribal welfare schools.
