Nizamabad:The Telangana State Education Protection Committee (TSEC) staged a protest at NTR Crossroads on Saturday, demanding a 20 per cent allocation for education in the state Budget. Teachers' union leaders and district committee members participated, raising slogans against what they described as inadequate funding.

TSEC state steering committee leaders P. Shanthan and Yanam Vijay Kumar criticised the previous BRS government for allocating only 7.3 per cent in the last budget.

They recalled that the Congress had promised a 15 per cent allocation in its election manifesto and that Rahul Gandhi reiterated a similar commitment during his Bharat Jodo Yatra.

The leaders also pointed out that states like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala allocate more than 13 per cent of their budgets to education.

District steering committee members V. Suresh, K. Omaji, Arvind, Ch. Sudam, and K. Ramesh joined the protest, which led to traffic disruptions at NTR Crossroads.
