Telangana: Tribal Woman Gang Raped in Medak, Dies

Hyderabad: A tribal woman who went to a local labour adda was promised daily-wage work, taken to a farm, gangraped her and left her for dead in Medak district. The accused hung her from a tree and escaped. The victim died later at a hospital. According to the Kulcharam police registered a case of rape and murder the accused and launched a search operation to catch them.
Police said the woman had gone to the labour adda with her husband. He was engaged to work in Gadwal and left. Hours later, person engaged the woman ostensibly to work at his farm.
Medak deputy superintendent of police (DSP) B. Prasanna Kumar said that the woman accompanied the accused on his bike. Two more persons joined the accused and the three took the victim to an isolated place and assaulted her.
"A passerby noticed the incident and called the police. When the police reached the place, the victim was unconscious. We shifted to a hospital where the doctors declared her dead," the DSP said.
As the incident took place on Saturday, the police altered sections to rape following the initial medical reports. Police formed special teams and collected CCTV footage. Police said they are verifying the footage to identify the accused.
