KARIMNAGAR: The Task Force along with Mustabad police officials, conducted surprise raids and seized a large quantity of explosives while arresting three individuals in Rajanna Sircilla district on Tuesday.
Police seized 2,600 Ideal Power Gelatin sticks, 405 Ideal Booster Gelatin sticks, 6,000 metres of Cordex wire and 175 detonators. A tempo vehicle used to transport the explosives was also confiscated.
Mustabad sub-inspector K. Ganesh said the accused were identified as G. Srinivas Rao and O. Sai Mallu from Nizamabad district and S. Raju from Mustabad mandal in Sircilla district.
On the night of July 21, Srinivas Rao, acting on the instructions of his employer Sai Mallu, was transporting the explosives without proper authorisation. He attempted to sell them to Raju in Namapur village for stone-related work. Upon receiving a tip-off from a reliable source, police conducted the raids.
The sub-inspector warned that it is mandatory to obtain necessary permits and licences to sell explosives. Strict action will be taken against those storing or transporting gelatin sticks or explosives in residential areas without valid licences, he added.
