HYDERABAD: A three-day training programme on animal care, hygiene and rescue concluded at Nehru Zoological Park on Friday, with nearly 40 animal keepers from five southern states participating.

Zoo keepers from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala received training in animal enclosure maintenance, rescue and translocation, animal behaviour, personal hygiene and the use of modern technology.

Zoo curator J. Vasantha distributed participation certificates and thanked the Central Zoo Authority, New Delhi, and Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal, for organising the programme.

Participants appreciated the opportunity to exchange skills and learn new techniques, the zoo said.
