TGSRTC, TGSPDCL Plan EV Charging Infrastructure For 2,200 Electric Buses In Greater Hyderabad
TGSRTC vice-chairman and managing director Y. Nagi Reddy announced plans for a large-scale rollout of electric buses in Greater Hyderabad this year. He assured that the corporation would provide space at available sites for switching stations or substations.
HYDERABAD: The southern power discom along with TGRTC have decided to establish electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at 25 depots within the GHMC limits, two at Suryapet depot and one each at Sangareddy and Nalgonda districts. TGRTC officials estimated a power demand of about 124 megawatts, with discussions focusing on substation infrastructure and electricity line laying.
In line with government directives, the RTC is gearing up to deploy 2,200 electric buses across the GHMC limits. Power and RTC officials held a coordination meeting on Thursday at the headquarters of the Telangana Southern Power Distribution Corporation Limited( TGSPDCL) to streamline electricity connections for the required EV charging points.

TGSPDCL chairman and managing director Musharraf Ali Faruqui directed officials to process RTC's applications, prepare estimates by February 1, and begin work promptly.
The meeting saw participation from Redco vice-chairman and managing director Anila, TGSPDCL directors V. Shivaji, Dr B. Narasimhulu, and Chakrapani, TGRTC executive directors M. Rajasekhar and Munishekar, along with chief engineers and superintending engineers from TG Transco and TGSPDCL.
