Hyderabad: In view of India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) warning of heavy rains and strong winds from October 27 to 29 due to cyclone impact, the TGNPDCL CMD Karnati Varun Reddy has directed the Superintending Engineers (SEs) of circles concerned to ensure that field-level officers and staff remain fully alert and take all necessary measures to prevent disruptions to power supply.

The CMD advised officials and staff to remain vigilant in Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mulugu, Bhupalpally, Mancherial, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Warangal, Mahabubabad and Peddapalli districts, as well as certain areas of Karimnagar and Hanamkonda districts, which are likely to be affected by the cyclone.

He instructed officials to alert field staff in advance and keep all equipment required for emergency repairs ready to ensure uninterrupted power supply. Heavy rains and strong winds may cause electric poles to fall, power lines to be damaged and transformers to be affected.

The CMD directed officials to keep vehicles, service agencies and electrical equipment ready to respond immediately to any power supply interruptions and undertake restoration works without delay.

He further instructed officials to keep control rooms at circle and division levels fully operational and continuously monitor the situation in coordination with field-level staff.

The CMD emphasized that all necessary measures must be taken to provide uninterrupted power supply to consumers to the extent possible. He also stressed that safety precautions must be strictly followed to prevent electrical accidents.

Consumers have been advised to contact the 1912 toll-free number for complaints related to power interruptions and other electricity supply issues. The CMD appealed to the public not to touch snapped electric wires during rains and strong winds, to stay away from them and immediately inform the Electricity Department about such incidents.

He also directed officials to continuously monitor weather conditions and take prompt precautionary measures in districts likely to experience a greater impact from the cyclone.

Staff and Material Ready for Emergency Repairs

Officials and staff across all circles, divisions, sub-divisions and sections have been instructed to remain alert and ensure that all equipment required for emergency repairs is readily available.

Control Rooms and Field-Level Coordination

Control rooms at circle and division levels must remain operational, with complaints promptly registered and resolved. Officials must ensure the availability of staff in shifts and regularly communicate updates regarding power interruptions, repair works and restoration of supply to higher authorities.

Highest Priority to Electrical Safety

Officials have been instructed to issue necessary warnings to prevent the public from approaching snapped electric wires and electrical equipment submerged in water.

Repair works must be undertaken only after disconnecting the power supply and confirming that the concerned line has been safely isolated. The CMD directed staff to respond swiftly to emergencies, restore power supply at the earliest and give utmost priority to the safety of field personnel.
