TGSPDCL Records All-Time High Power Demand of 12,044 MW

Hyderabad: The electricity demand in the jurisdiction of the Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) has reached a new peak. A record power demand of 12,044 MW was registered today at 3.52 pm, marking the highest demand ever recorded in the history of the organization.
Earlier, the highest demand recorded during the current financial year was 11,828 MW, registered on September 11, 2026, at 12.44 pm. The latest demand has surpassed that record.
Within the Greater Hyderabad limits, a peak demand of 4,072 MW was recorded on September 28 at 6.42 PM, while 82.89 Million Units (MU) of electricity consumption was registered.
During the current financial year, the highest demand recorded in the GHMC area was 4,782 MW, registered on May 22, 2026, at 3.33 pm. On the same day, the highest electricity consumption of 101.07 Million Units was also recorded.
At the state level, electricity demand has also been witnessing significant growth. According to the Telangana TRANSCO State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC), a peak demand of 19,133 MW was recorded across Telangana on September 28 at 12.56 pm, with a total electricity consumption of 326.70 Million Units. The highest demand recorded in the state during the current financial year remains 19,543 MW, which was registered on September 9, 2026, at 10.41 am.
The Government is ensuring uninterrupted power supply to meet agricultural requirements in rural areas, including electricity needs for paddy cultivation and other crops. Special operational measures are being implemented to cater to the growing power consumption in the agriculture sector.
TGSPDCL officials stated that the increasing power demand is being met without interruption due to the Government’s proactive planning, augmentation of substation capacities, strengthening of the power network, and modernization of the transmission and distribution systems.
Keeping in view the future growth in electricity demand driven by data centers, IT parks, industrial corridors, metro rail expansion, agriculture, and rapid urbanization, the State Government, TRANSCO, and DISCOMs are implementing comprehensive plans to expand power infrastructure and enhance network capacity.
On this occasion, Jitesh V. Patil, Chairman and Managing Director, TGSPDCL, stated: “We are successfully meeting the growing electricity requirements through advance planning, network strengthening, and efficient system management.”
“Our primary objective is to provide quality, reliable, and uninterrupted power supply to the people of Telangana. We are further strengthening the power system to meet future demand and support the state's growth,” he added.
