TGNPDCL Wins National Award For Digital Power Transformation
Reddy stated that through the OMS, about 72 lakh consumers across 18 districts were provided with advance information regarding power interruptions via SMS, WhatsApp, and mobile applications.
HYDERABAD: The Telangana Northern Power Distribution Company limited (TGNPDCL) has won the 11th Governance Now India PSU IT award for its digital initiatives to modernise power distribution, the company announced on Monday. The recognition, presented at a ceremony in New Delhi, was received by company secretary K. Venkatesham and GM (IT) Srinivas.
Northern discom CMD Karnati Varun Reddy said the award recognised the company’s adoption of supervisory control and data acquisition, geographic information system and an outage management system (OMS) as part of its smart grid push and it was achieved under the guidance of Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and special chief secretary (energy) Naveen Mittal.
Reddy stated that through the OMS, about 72 lakh consumers across 18 districts were provided with advance information regarding power interruptions via SMS, WhatsApp, and mobile applications. “As a result of these digital initiatives, fault restoration times have been reduced from hours to minutes, consumer grievance redressal has become faster, AT&C losses have declined, and the reliability of power supply has significantly improved,” he said.
Reddy underlined the utility’s target to become India’s best digital power distribution company by 2030 and reaffirmed its commitment to 24-hour quality supply with digital transparency for agriculture, industry and households.
