Hyderabad: Telangana Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGNPDCL) has been conferred the 14th Innovation with impact award for DISCOMs in recognition of its innovative initiatives and the adoption of advanced technologies to improve the quality, reliability and efficiency of power distribution services to consumers.

The award was presented at the 14th Innovation with Impact Awards for DISCOMs held as part of the 20th India Energy Summit organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in New Delhi.

Company Secretary K. Venkatesham received the award on behalf of TGNPDCL. On Saturday, the award was presented to TGNPDCL CMD Karnati Varun Reddy at the company's corporate headquarters in Nakkalagutta, Hanamkonda.

Speaking on the occasion, Varun Reddy said that TGNPDCL was extensively adopting advanced technologies across its distribution network and implementing several innovative initiatives to ensure improved, reliable and quality power supply to consumers.

As part of these initiatives, the company has been extensively implementing the Real-Time Feeder Monitoring System (RTFMS) to monitor electricity feeders in real time.

SCADA-based monitoring, continuous assessment of feeder load conditions and prompt response to power interruptions are among the key measures being undertaken to enhance operational efficiency and supply reliability.

The CMD further stated that the installed capacity of renewable energy increased from 1,784 MW in 2024–25 to 2,126 MW in 2025–26. Similarly, rooftop solar capacity rose from 80.17 MW in 2024–25 to 143.92 MW in 2025–26, registering a growth of approximately 79.5 per cent over the previous year.

He said that TGNPDCL was encouraging the adoption of solar energy, expanding rooftop solar installations and leveraging IT-enabled systems to streamline the processing of applications and promote renewable energy utilisation.

The company is also utilising modern technologies such as Fault Passage Indicators (FPI), digital monitoring systems, drone-based inspections, Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping, Automatic Meter Reading (AMR), AI-powered chatbots for consumers and digital grievance-redressal systems.

These technologies are playing a crucial role in simplifying consumer services, reducing power interruptions, identifying faults quickly, restoring supply promptly and effectively monitoring the performance of field-level staff, he explained.

The CMD emphasised that TGNPDCL was continuously striving to provide round-the-clock power supply, prompt responses to consumer complaints, real-time information and convenient digital services.

By leveraging advanced technologies, the company aims to improve power supply quality, minimise the duration of interruptions, enhance maintenance efficiency and strengthen consumer satisfaction.
