The TGICCC will monitor two newly added zones in addition to the existing seven, enabling centralised, real-time oversight.

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has restructured policing in the Hyderabad region by bringing the Shamshabad and Rajendranagar divisions under the Hyderabad Commissionerate, placing key locations, including Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) and the Budvel High Court, under a single command framework.

The move, approved by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, aims to improve public service delivery, strengthen surveillance around the international airport, and bridge geographical gaps between police units amid rapid urban expansion.

Officials said the decision was based on a comparative assessment of forensic support, infrastructure, technology and personnel strength. The Hyderabad Commissionerate has the largest manpower base, with around 19,000 personnel, compared with about 6,000 in Rachakonda and around 7,000 in Cyberabad. The reorganisation is expected to enhance security and operational efficiency by aligning resources with threat perception and coverage needs.

According to sources, the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre, described as one of the country’s most advanced police command centres, now has integrated access to surveillance feeds across RGIA, the Budvel High Court complex, the Shamshabad zone and the Rajendranagar zone, through which the PV Narasimha Rao Expressway passes.

With this change, the TGICCC will monitor these two newly added zones in addition to the existing seven, enabling centralised, real-time oversight.

The restructuring brings major State institutions, including the Assembly, Secretariat and the international airport, under a single commissionerate, consolidating command and control for faster response and coordinated policing.
