TG-SAFE Serves Notices To 32 Medical Shops
The medical shops were found violating rules, including dispensing prescription medicines without valid prescriptions and failing to maintain sales bills and drug registers.
Hyderabad: The Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG-SAFE) on Wednesday served show-cause notices to 32 medical shops linked to online pharmacies over various violations.
The move follows a special enforcement drive conducted at 106 medical shops associated with online medicine delivery services such as Tata 1mg, Netmeds, Zepto, Apollo 24/7, MedPlus Mart and Instamart, among others, across the CURE region.
During the drive, officials found irregularities, including non-maintenance of or failure to produce sales bills for medicines, failure to maintain prescription drug registers and Schedule H1 drug registers.
The medical shops also failed to produce purchase invoices for medicines.
Dispensing prescription medicines without valid prescriptions issued by a registered medical practitioner, selling medicines without the supervision of a registered pharmacist, and improper maintenance of copies of sales and purchase records were among the violations found at the medical shops.
TG-SAFE reiterated that strict compliance with statutory requirements is mandatory for all medical shops, including those associated with online platforms.
Any deviation from the prescribed norms will attract stringent action under the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.
People can complain about the illegal sale, distribution or diversion of habit-forming drugs, as well as any illegal practices relating to the online sale of medicines, through the TG-SAFE Drugs Wing toll-free number 1800-599-6969, between 10.30 am and 5 pm on all working days.
