Hyderabad: The Telangana government will extend all possible support to promote Telugu language, culture, ancient epics and heritage in Mauritius, state Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said on Saturday.
A delegation led by Mauritius Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reforms Lutchmanah Raj Pentiah met Vikramarka here, an official release said.
Vikramarka said Telangana and Mauritius have shared close and cordial ties for a long time, recalling the common historical and cultural heritage of the two countries and the strong bonds of friendship between their people.
He said Telangana has a special connection with Mauritius through its Telugu language, culture, and traditions, noting that the Telugu community there is an important part of the country's rich and multicultural society.
Vikramarka assured that the Telangana government would extend all possible support to take forward the Ram Bhajanam programme being undertaken by the Mauritius government.
He said the Telangana government would also provide support in the areas of education, cultural research, arts, language, and cultural development.
The Mauritius minister said that Telugu people living in Mauritius were preserving and promoting their language, culture, and traditions through the Telugu Cultural Centre in the country.
The Mauritius delegation expressed their special gratitude to the Telangana government for its commitment towards the Telugu community across the world and for its efforts to promote the Telugu language and culture globally, the release added.
