Telangana: Truck Driver Sentenced to 10-yr RI for Killing Biker

Karimnagar: A 37-year-old lorry driver was sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment by the district court and penalised ₹20,500 in a drunk and drive case which led to the death of a motorcyclist here in Metapally of Jagtial district.
According to the police, the incident occurred on February 1, 2022. The victim, Sanketh was returning home to Ekalavya Nagar on his two-wheeler from the Metpally bus depot. As he was riding, a speeding lorry (registration number AP 25T 6877) driven by Sheikh Ishaq from Nizamabad district struck him from behind. Ishaq was found to be under the influence of alcohol and driving recklessly. Sanketh sustained severe injuries and died on the spot.
After the victim’s father Rajasekhar lodged a complaint, a case was registered at the Metpally Police Station. The then sub-inspector, Sudhakar, investigated the matter and filed a charge sheet against the accused.
During the trial, court constable Ranjith and CMS constable Kiran Kumar presented key witnesses. Assistant public prosecutor K. Mallesham argued the case on behalf of the prosecution.
