Krishna Rao said tourism was not limited to leisure travel alone but was a powerful tool for economic growth, employment generation and strengthening Telangana’s brand image.
Hyderabad: Several travel content creators said they initially began creating content focused on their native districts, including Adilabad, but later expanded their work to showcase tourism destinations across Telangana.
Interestingly, some creators are also using their platforms for social awareness campaigns. One of the creators, Pavan, said his content focuses on civic sense and educating people about maintaining cleanliness at heritage structures and tourist destinations.
Jahnavi said she worked on a model where tourism revenue generated from visitors was redirected for village development activities. She explained that a water body developed in her village now attracts visitors, and the small entry contributions collected from tourists are being utilised for local development.
Speaking at the Telangana Tourism Creator Meet organised here on Thursday to strengthen digital tourism promotion and expand the state’s outreach through social media storytelling, officials said the initiative seeks to position Telangana among the leading tourism destinations in India by using digital media, reels, short films and creator-driven storytelling to highlight the state’s heritage monuments, eco-tourism spots, spiritual circuits, tribal culture, cuisine, festivals and urban tourism experiences.
The tourism department said the newly launched Meta account will function as an integrated digital platform for tourism promotion, event updates, influencer collaborations, travel information dissemination and tourist engagement initiatives.
The event also marked the official launch of Telangana Tourism’s new Meta social media account aimed at increasing engagement with domestic and international tourists through digital campaigns, visual content and creator collaborations.
Around 50 travel content creators from different parts of Telangana participated in the event and interacted with tourism minister Jupally Krishna Rao and tourism officials.
The department also outlined its plans to organise creator collaborations, thematic tourism campaigns and digital content initiatives focusing on: Heritage Tourism, Eco and Adventure Tourism, Spiritual Tourism, Rural and Tribal Tourism, Culinary Tourism, Festival Tourism and Film Tourism.
Krishna Rao said tourism was not limited to leisure travel alone but was a powerful tool for economic growth, employment generation and strengthening Telangana’s brand image.
The minister called upon social media influencers and digital creators to showcase Telangana’s natural beauty, historical heritage and cultural richness to global audiences through digital platforms.
Interacting with influencers and creators from various districts, Krishna Rao said their suggestions would help improve tourism promotion. He stressed that influencers should not restrict themselves only to tourism promotion but also take up social responsibility by spreading awareness among youth against drugs, ganja, betting and online gaming addictions.
The minister announced that the government would soon launch a new social awareness programme titled “Prabhata Bheri”, which will use short films, street plays, stage performances and other art forms to create awareness among people.
