 Nizamabad: At least 27,000 teachers will cast votes twice, one for the graduate segment of the MLC election and another for the teacher MLC constituency of Karimnagar-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Medak districts on February 27.

Those who became graduates before 2021 are allowed to enroll as voters for MLC elections while teachers working in high schools have enrolled as voters in teachers MLC elections.

There are 3,55,159 graduates and 27,088 teachers in the constituency. The highest 56 candidates are contesting for graduates MLC election while 15 are contesting for teachers segment. The BJP has fielded Malka Komuraiah and Anji Reddy as its candidates for teachers and graduates constituencies, respectively.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, K. Dayanand, a government teacher, said he will vote twice on February 27. “As a graduate, I will cast my vote at SFS school in Nizamabad and as a teacher I will cast my vote at Nirmala Hrudaya school,” he said.

Dayanand said, the government has provided them ‘on duty’ facility to exercise their franchise. Surprisingly, a few teachers have opted out of the MLC elections.
