HYDERABAD: The ticket checking staff of South-Central Railway’s Secunderabad Division have repeatedly demonstrated service beyond routine duties, with their alertness, courage and quick decision-making saving lives, rescuing vulnerable passengers, protecting property and strengthening passenger confidence.
Travelling ticket inspector Sai Ram displayed exceptional commitment by intercepting a child abuse suspect at Lakdikapul station and handing him over to RPF, leading to a Pocso case. He also played a key role in tracing and safeguarding several runaway and missing children at Begumpet and Secunderabad stations, coordinating with Child Welfare authorities to reunite them safely with their families.
M. Sai Shankar, another travelling ticket inspector, showed extraordinary presence of mind while working in Train No. 12861 on June 2, by initiating an emergency alarm chain pull to rescue a passenger who had slipped into a dangerous position between a moving train and the platform at Dornakal station. The passenger was later shifted to hospital with the help of RPF in 108 ambulances for treatment of moderate injuries.
Travelling ticket inspector Racheal Ranjitha recovered corporate electronic equipment left behind by a passenger at Begumpet station on June 22, after proper verification, the valuables were safely returned to the rightful owner.
M.V. Subba Reddy, also a travelling ticket inspector, administered timely CPR to a passenger who suffered a cardiac arrest while approaching Nizamuddin station on June 2, in Train No. 12285 Duronto Express. On reaching Nizamuddin station, an ambulance was arranged and the passenger was shifted to hospital. The timely help rendered by the on-duty inspector saved a precious life.
Uttam Singh, travelling ticket inspector, noticed smoke emanating from a toilet onboard Train No. 18045 East Coast Express while passing between Dornakal and Gundrathimadugu stations on May 29. He stopped the train and initiated emergency safety procedures, preventing a potentially serious incident.
Balraju, travelling ticket inspector, onboard Train No. 12714 Sathavahana Exp on July 8, 2026, swiftly reacted after noticing the activation of a smoke detector and promptly enforced anti-smoking regulations, preventing potential hazards and ensuring passenger safety.
