Hyderabad:Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday said the Telangana government had set an ambitious target of doubling the state’s contribution to the national GDP by 2047.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025 at Bharat Future City, he said that although Telangana accounted for 2.9 per cent of India’s population it contributed nearly five per cent to the national GDP. “By 2047, I want Telangana to contribute 10 per cent of India’s GDP,” he declared, calling it a defining goal for the state’s long-term economic roadmap.

Revanth Reddy said the government was working toward transforming Telangana into a $1-trillion economy by 2034 and a $3-trillion economy by 2047.

To drive this growth plan, the state government plans to adopt the economic development model of China’s Guangdong province, which he described as the world’s fastest-growing region over the last two decades.

“Guangdong today has the largest provincial economy in China. In just 20 years, it attracted the highest investment and achieved exceptional growth. We want to replicate that model in Telangana,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the state’s development vision is anchored in a three-zone strategy that divides Telangana into distinct economic regions — services, manufacturing, and agriculture.

“Our idea is to make Telangana the first Indian state with a clearly structured economic geography. We call this the CURE, PURE, RARE model — Core Urban Region Economy, Peri Urban Region Economy, and Rural Agriculture Region Economy,” he explained, adding that this approach will ensure planned growth, sustainable urbanisation and strengthened rural livelihoods.

Revanth Reddy said Telangana had drawn inspiration from the development journeys of China, Japan, Germany, South Korea and Singapore, and is preparing to compete with them in the coming decades. He said the government has invited these nations to collaborate and invest in the Telangana Rising initiatives.

Reflecting on India’s own journey since Independence, the Chief Minister said the state’s long-term planning draws strength from the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr B.R. Ambedkar. He said the Telangana Rising 2047 vision document emerged after extensive inputs from citizens, officials, experts from the Centre, the Indian School of Business, and Niti Aayog.

“Yesterday, it was a dream and a plan. Today, all of you have joined us. I see you not as guests but as partners in this journey,” he told the delegates, expressing confidence that the summit would serve as a platform for shaping Telangana’s future. He said the state is determined to evolve into India’s most developed region and one of the leading global growth centres.

Revanth Reddy highlighted that Telangana’s march toward prosperity is irreversible. “Telangana Rising is unstoppable. Come, join the rise,” he said, inviting global leaders, investors and thinkers to be part of the state’s growth story.
