Hyderabad:The government will continue with the existing SSC Public Examination assessment pattern for the 2025-26 academic year, maintaining 80 per cent marks for external evaluation and 20 per cent for internal assessment. An order issued by the school education department on Monday put earlier proposals to alter this ratio on hold until further notice.

The decision, signed by school education secretary Dr Yogita Rana, follows a detailed review of recommendations by the director of school education, who advocated preserving the current system. Officials have been instructed to implement the order statewide. The department noted the pattern balances internal assessments with the predominant weight of public exams, supporting comprehensive evaluation.

The Telangana Recognised School Managements Association (TRSMA) welcomed the decision, calling it a fair approach that sustains Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation. TRSMA president S. Madhusudhan said it reduces exam pressure while encouraging consistent learning through classroom engagement, assignments, and projects.

The move follows last November’s announcement of a shift to 100 per cent external evaluation, which had drawn concerns from school bodies.
