Telangana Remains in Coldwave Grip
Minimum temperatures dip below 8°C in several districts; relief likely from January 1
Hyderabad: Telangana continues to reel under an intense coldwave, marking the 21st consecutive day of severe cold conditions across the state. Several locations recorded single-digit minimum temperatures on Friday, December 27, with northern and central districts bearing the brunt of the chill.
According to temperature data from the Telangana Weatherman, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad’s Ginnedari recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 7.4°C, followed by Sangareddy’s Kohir at 7.6°C and Adilabad’s Bheempoor at 8.8°C. Other cold spots included Moinabad in Rangareddy (9.2°C), Pothireddipet in Siddipet (9.4°C), and Gandhari in Kamareddy (9.7°C).
In the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, HCU Serilingampally emerged as the coldest location at 9.9°C. Moula Ali (10.7°C), Alwal (10.8°C), Rajendranagar and Macha Bollaram (11.1°C each), and Gachibowli (11.2°C) also reported unusually low temperatures. Several other city localities recorded minimums between 11°C and 13°C.
Weather enthusiasts indicated that the coldwave conditions are expected to ease gradually, with respite likely from January 1, as minimum temperatures are forecast to rise.
