WARANGAL: Use of a government-owned Blue Colt police motorcycle as Rapido bike taxi has triggered a departmental inquiry in the Warangal Police Commissionerate.
The issue came to light on Tuesday after a commuter who booked a Rapido ride from Ambedkar Junction to Subedari for ₹26 got surprised when a Blue Colt police motorcycle arrived for the trip. The passenger recorded his interaction with the driver.
The video later went viral on social media. Acting on the viral video, police launched an inquiry and identified the motorcycle, bearing registration number TS 09 PC 2795 as a government vehicle allotted by the Warangal Police Commissionerate to the Enumamula Police Station.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcycle had been assigned to sub-inspector Guvva Shankar. His son Siddharth allegedly used it to operate Rapido bike taxi services.
Enumamula circle inspector J. Suresh said a report has been submitted to the Warangal police commissioner recommending action. A departmental inquiry is currently underway.
